In football, players can be fined for excessive celebration or dancing in the end zone after a big play. Not so for the Warren County High School dance team where celebration is the name of the game.
You would be hard pressed to find someone who knows that better than Warren County native Rae Clarke Boutte who continued her dance team passion in college graduating from MTSU to go on and become the coach of the MTSU dance team.
Boutte took the reins of the MTSU dance team this February after first coaching Ringgold High School in Georgia. She has two other Warren County graduates on her squad. Taylor Elgouhary and Abby Hutchins, who graduated from WCHS in 2015 and 2016, respectively, are now members.
Recently the MTSU dance team returned from Universal Dance Association College Camp with honors.
“I’m so proud of this team and their first UDA camp experience,” Boutte said.
The team honors included Superior Trophy for routine evaluations with all blue ribbons and the Collegiate Award, and Superior Trophy for traditional fight song.
