Emma Holmes swished a late layup and Marlee Smith blocked Morgan Deweese’s 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Dibrell Wildcats won 28-25 in the Warren County elementary girls tournament championship game.Dibrell led by one point in the final two minutes of the game, but had to dodge a number of bullets to hold on to victory.Boyd had a great chance to take the lead with 28.3 seconds to go when Rhiannon Hoover stepped to the line in a one-point game to shoot a one-and-one.Hoover’s first shot touched every part of the rim before rolling out and Sianna Womack came up with the big board. Dibrell tried to run the final 28 seconds off the clock, but Boyd was able to tip a pass out of bounds with 10 seconds to go to force a final throw-in.The Lady Wildcats were able to throw over the top of the Lady Bronco defense to a wide open Holmes. Holmes made the layup with 8.2 seconds left, giving Dibrell a three-point advantage.Boyd tried to rush up the court for a final shot, but Deweese was met by three Dibrell defenders at the three-point line and the shot was knocked down immediately after it left her hands.Holmes finished with nine points to lead the Lady Wildcats, followed by Macayla Ferrell with eight.
