The Centertown Lady Warriors went undefeated last year in winning the 7-8 grade elementary basketball league.

They got off to a strong start in defending their title as the regular season began Monday night with the Lady Warriors claiming a 38-12 win in Centertown.

Lady Warrior Kealey Simpson was too much for Boyd to handle in the middle. She scored 8 points in the opening quarter on her way to a game-high 12. She was one of eight Centertown players to score.

Boyd was led by Cydney Jane Perry with 6.

The Lady Warriors (1-0) had a clear game plan -- toss the ball to Simpson in the post. Simpson was up to the test and responded with four early baskets.

With Simpson resting in the second quarter, Centertown went with a quicker lineup and five different players scored, Trinity Reynolds, Allie Melton, Presley Bonner, Maegan Johnson and Presley Winfree.

It was a 21-7 Centertown lead at the half.

Boyd (0-1) gave a great effort, but the Lady Broncos ran out of gas and couldn’t score in the fourth quarter. The Lady Broncos only brought six players to the game, while Centertown used 13 players.
