The Warren County High School soccer team can officially start calling itself one of the top 16 teams in the state.
The Lady Pioneers will be playing in the regional finals after winning against Ooltewah 5-1 last night on their home field.
Warren County (15-6-1) had to win last night to extend its season and the Lady Pioneers took care of business against the visiting Lady Owls.
Ooltewah struck first with a score three minutes into the game, but Warren County rallied back.
Behind first-half goals from Madison Smartt and Morgan McCormick, Warren County took a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Smartt added her second goal in the second half while Ansley Mullican scored twice as the Lady Pioneers ran away from Ooltewah to extend their streak without a loss to nine games.
With the win, Warren County advances to the regional final which will be played tomorrow night at Warren County High School. The Lady Pioneers will face the winner of the regional game between Soddy Daisy and Coffee County.
The score of the game between Soddy Daisy and Coffee County wasn’t available at press time.
If Soddy Daisy won, kickoff tomorrow will be at 6 p.m. A game against the Lady Raiders would begin at 7 p.m.
No matter the outcome of tomorrow’s game, the Lady Pioneers will play in the sectionals Saturday. The opponent and location of the sectional game will be determined by tomorrow’s results.
