

The WCHS Lady Pioneers served up two softball wins on Thursday in the Southern Warrior Classic, beating Bloomington Central 7-1 and capping the night off with a win over White House 9-1.
It was the first two wins of the season for the Lady Pioneers.
Warren County ace Madison Hollis pitched 10 strikeouts in 6 innings against Bloomington and only allowed 1 run on 3 hits.
Shelby Roberts scored 2 RBIs on a homerun hit to left field, sending herself and Ky Damon home at the top of the second. The Lady Pioneers scored 6 runs that inning, putting them way ahead of Bloomington. Bloomington’s pitcher had a solid 6 strikeouts against WC, but she committed 5 errors and allowed 10 hits as Warren County was pounding the ball.
With a great second inning, the Lady Pioneers sailed to the victory with both teams only scoring 1 run each after the second.
Kora Forbes followed Hollis pitching against White House. Forbes only allowed 1 run on 3 hits across 5 innings. Forbes threw strikes and Warren County played defense behind her. Roberts continued to be a threat at the plate going 2 for 2 and bagging another RBI for the night.
A similar start saw the Lady Pioneers up by 8 by the third inning, and both teams only scored 1 run each after the second inning. Damon went 3 for 3 at the plate hitting a few singles to shortstop and she scored 2 runs.
The Lady Pioneers made a cushion in the first 2 innings scoring 3 runs in the first then 5 in the second, allowing them to easily take the game 9-1 against White House.
Though having a successful Thursday night, WC couldn’t pull it together to garner a win against Carterville on Friday as the Lady Pioneers lost, 9-6.
Hollis returned to the mound, but she allowed 9 runs on 9 hits across 5 innings.
The Lady Pioneers hit the ball well with 7 hits and 6 runs, but Carterville had even more offense.
