The stress of close games is almost too much for Warren County High School girls coach Erick Baird to take, but he’ll survive as long as his Lady Pioneers keep winning.Warren County claimed the Midstate Christmas tournament silver division title Saturday with a 40-38 victory over Coffee County at Ezell Harding High School. It was the third victory for the Lady Pioneers in the tournament – which began Thursday and featured eight teams – and second win coming by two points or less.Coach Baird, who has seen his team win five of its last six games all by seven points or less, couldn’t be prouder of the Lady Pioneers’ play in the tournament.“These close games may give me a heart attack, but it’s great seeing our girls play so well and finish games,” said Baird. “We trailed the whole time in the finals, but we found a way to win once again.
