Bouncing back from its first loss was harder than expected for the Warren County High School volleyball team Thursday against Van Buren County.Just two days after falling at home against Coffee County, the Lady Pioneers were able to survive a five-set marathon to beat the Lady Eagles.Perseverance was the key to the team’s second victory this season.Warren County (2-1) lost the first set 25-16 and third set 25-10, but the home team bounced back each time. The Lady Pioneers won the second set 25-14, the fourth set 25-21 and the deciding fifth set 15-6.Coach Dena Upton saw some things her team still needs to work on, but the bright spots carried the Lady Pioneers to a win.“We had strong hitting at the net and our serving showed team-wide improvement,” said Upton. “We’re still a work in progress with service receive and passing to the setter, but I’m very pleased with how we fought to win.”The Lady Pioneers found themselves in a familiar early hole.
