Lady Pioneers prevail

Addison Steakley won her singles and doubles matches Monday night as the WCMS girls tennis team prevailed, 4-3.

The Warren County Middle School girls tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season on Monday with a hard-fought win over Franklin County.

The Lady Pioneers won the home match, 4-3, behind the play of Abby Graves, Addison Steakley, and London Caten.

Caten won the tightest girls match of the day in No. 3 singles. In an epic battle, Caten edged her opponent 7-6 in what proved to be the difference in the match.

The WCMS boys team showed determination and spunk, but the Pioneers couldn’t get past a tough Franklin County squad in losing 7-0.

Pioneer Isaac Stefanick almost tasted victory in No. 3 singles action as he lost to his opponent by the narrowest of margins, 7-6.
