The Warren County High School girls tennis team took District 6-AAA by surprise last season while finishing the regular season undefeated and claiming its first championship. The Lady Pioneers will have to adjust this year to being the team with the target on its back.Luckily for the Lady Pioneers, the team returns four all-district players from last year while adding two talented freshmen and exchange student Maren Podlesak. With the new additions adding to an already strong core of players, coach David Dunlap believes his team can make another run this year.“We reloaded as a team. Our girls have worked hard since the end of last year and improved tremendously,” said Dunlap.Sophomore Katie Phillips, an all-district honoree last year in singles and doubles, has worked her way to the top of the team’s singles depth chart during practice.
