Lady Pioneer Nautica Brown makes a hard move toward the basket in an attempt to get her team on the scoreboard in the first quarter.

The Lady Pioneers of Warren County Middle School were dominated by a much more aggressive and physical Lady Red Raider team from Coffee County Middle School on Monday night.
Coffee County’s unforgiving and relentless defense crippled the WCMS offense and defeated the Lady Pioneers, 59-17.
Julia Duncan of Coffee County led all scorers and unloaded a game-high 16 points. She shot 6-of-13 from the free-throw line and sparked a 21-point third quarter with 10 of her 16 after the half.
Coffee County led 22-10 at the break. The Lady Red Raider offense exploded with a 21-point third quarter. Duncan led the charge after the half with 10. Bella Vinson was left alone outside and she buried a 3-pointer.
Jenna Garretson also slipped inside the stagnant Lady Pioneer defense for a pair of baskets. The Lady Red Raider offense was only half the story in the third quarter. Their full-court pressure defense limited WCMS and multiple times the Lady Pioneer offense struggled to just cross midcourt.
The aggressive defense played by Coffee County clearly intimidated the Lady Pioneer offense. Very few Lady Pioneers attempted to put the ball on the floor and drive into the heart of the Coffee County defense.
Kinsley Lorance and Alora Stuart slipped behind the press and scored in the third quarter. The relaxed effort to get inside the defense allowed the Lady Red Raiders to extend their defense out beyond the arch and limited the outside shots as well. After three, WCMS trailed 43-14.
The Lady Pioneers tried to survive the remaining quarter as the Coffee County pressure continued. Lady Red Raider Journey Arnold opened up and let her shots fly. She led the final period with nine points. She dropped in six underneath and once she pulled the trigger on a deep shot behind the three-point line over the flat-footed defense.
Nautica Brown for WCMS drove hard to the basket and got inside the Coffee County defense for her final two points. Kamryn Nowlin was fouled on her way through the defense and she shot 1-of-2 from the free-throw line.
It was all Lady Red Raiders in front of their home crowd as Coffee County defeated WCMS, 59-17.
