Lady Bulldogs come up short

Eastside was all bark and no bite and for the second time the Lady Bulldogs were defeated by the Dibrell Lady Wildcats, 25-20.
The Lady Wildcats were able to escape the jaws of defeat in the closing seconds of the first meeting. In the second meeting, it came down to the final quarter again.
This time for Dibrell, Emma Parsley took over and was the game’s high scorer with 13 points. Parsley helped propel the Lady Wildcats to victory with six, fourth-quarter points.
Eastside held a 15-13 lead to start the fourth quarter. It was back and fourth down the floor and neither team could pull away. The Lady Wildcat defense turned up the heat in the fourth.
The Lady Bulldogs needed someone to step up to the challenge. Kinslee Grissom tried when she fired a shot over the defense and from behind the 3-point line. Grissom connected for her only points of the game.
Dibrell did not make it easy and the Lady Wildcats were going to make Eastside earn the win from the charity stripe. The Lady Bulldogs shot a dismal 2-of-10 from the free-throw line, a crippling blow.
On the Lady Wildcat end of the floor, Dibrell continued to push the ball down the floor and attack the Lady Bulldog defense. Juju Pyburn and Brianna Winkler hit key baskets down the stretch and put the Lady Wildcats out front for good.
Eastside was defeated by Dibrell for the second time by a final score of 25-20.
Eastside led throughout the first three quarters. Shelby Smartt and Sarah Grace Vinson teamed up and combined on a pair of baskets to put the Lady Bulldogs out front 5-3 in the first.
The Lady Bulldogs entered the locker room at the half with a slim one-point lead, 9-8.
Dibrell saved the best for last and the Lady Wildcat offense ran away with the fourth period. Dibrell was in all the right places for rebounds down the stretch and made good on more than a few of them.
Each time these two teams have played this season it has been an all-out, no-holds-barred, in-your-face game that comes down to the end.
