Boyd Christian High School Lady Bronco Stephanie Mullins heads toward the paint earlier this season. Mullins helped Boyd defeat Covenant on Tuesday at McMinnville Civic Center.

Boyd Christian’s Lady Broncos played Covenant’s Lady Lions at McMinnville Civic Center on Tuesday and took home a 41-29 victory.
The Lady Broncos distributed the basketball well with six players posting points led by Rhiannon Hoover with 12 points, while the Lady Lions depended largely on Naina Patel who hit for a game-high 17 points.
“We did not play real well, but Covenant always gives us trouble,” said Boyd coach Brent Warren. “They are coached well and are prepared when we play them. I was proud of my girls in the second half. We had a rough first half and they came out in the second half and played much better on both ends of the floor.”
The halftime score was 16-12, but a big third-quarter rally by the Lady Broncos put the deficit, 31-17, out of reach for the Lady Lions.
Wrapping up Covenant’s scoring were Kathern Shelton with 8 points, Chloe Hillis 3 and Maddison Madewell hit for 1 point.
Boyd Lady Broncos to add points to the total were Mackenzie Pistole and Morgan DeWeese with 8 points each, Erin Cantrell 7, Stephanie Mullins 4 and Morgan Young hit a field goal for 2 points.
The Lady Broncos take on district rival Riverside Academy in Fayetteville Friday, Jan. 20. Game time is 7 p.m.
