The Boyd Christian 7-8 grade Lady Broncos played host to Eastside on Thursday night and courted their A game as they dealt a 42-22 loss to the Lady Bulldogs.The name of the game was distribution of assets on offense, as the Lady Broncos were able to spread out scoring to six playmakers with Erica Cantrell scoring a game-high 20 points for Boyd alone. While Eastside’s Shelby Smartt was still a force to be reckoned with – she hit for 16 total points – only two other Lady Bulldogs hit hoops.Both teams fared poorly at the foul line with Boyd Christian School shooting 33 percent, or 5-of-15, and the Lady Bulldogs 29 percent, 2-of-7. Even if the Lady Bulldogs had 100 percent of the foul shots taken it wouldn’t have mattered as Boyd played a clean game.Also scoring for the Lady Broncos were Alaina Stiles with 7 points, Breanna Jones 6, Anna Jones 5 and Abby Blanton and Emma Young both scored 2 points.The Lady Bulldogs play host to Centertown, while Eastside will play host to Dibrell on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
