The Boyd Christian Lady Broncos scored a huge home victory over Victory Baptist Academy on Monday, winning 79-25, another blowout by Boyd’s high school girls.

The victory continues what has been a memorable season for the Lady Broncos, who are now 17-2 for the season.

Boyd coach Tim Page says the team’s biggest strength is its aggressive defense. That was evident Monday night as Victory Baptist couldn’t keep possession of the ball long enough to score. Boyd created countless turnovers and won another game with ease.

Anna Jones led Boyd with 20 points, followed by Laney Copeland and Lia Wright with 14 each.

Wright started the game making four foul shots. With a quick lead and relentless defense, the Lady Broncos were in control from the first minute. Lady Bronco Krista Chisam made a steal and passed to Audrey Durham for 2 points.

After establishing a heavy lead, Victory’s Ashly Prater shot a perfect 3 and finished as the leading scorer for the visiting team. Wright made two more foul shots before the first quarter was up, and the Lady Broncos were ahead 20-3 by the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter proved just as easy for Boyd. Lady Bronco Anna Jones was the biggest scorer under the goal with her accuracy.

Jones continued attacking by stealing the ball and making a layup. Sarah Woodruff followed shortly after with her own steal and layup.

Victory Baptist couldn’t withstand the defense the Lady Broncos were executing. By halftime, Boyd was up 43-7 and showing no signs of stopping.

The third quarter was the most competitive quarter. Chisam and Jones continued to be threats with both putting up 3-pointers, and point guard Laney Copeland joined them putting up two 3s of her own.

Prater continued to be the top scorer for Victory as she put up eight of the team’s 10 points that quarter, including a 3 and all of her free throws.

In the final quarter, Jones continued the charge putting up two more 3s. At this point, the win was already secured, the game just had to play out. The Lady Broncos defeated Victory Baptist in a blowout 79-25.

Next up for the Lady Broncos is a road game Thursday night against Dickson Christian Academy.
