Boyd Christian School’s Lady Broncos spurred past host Bobby Ray on Tuesday night in their 5-6 grade girls basketball season opener, handily winning 23-10.With nine of the 17 total 5-6 grade girls playing on the Boyd basketball team, one could say this is a schoolwide endeavor.“Boyd is definitely the underdog in most games because we are a small school,” said Boyd Christian School’s girls basketball head coach Allison Stiles. “I was very proud of how hard the girls played and the good sportsmanship they showed.”The story was told in the third quarter as Boyd outscored Bobby Ray 12-0. The Lady Stars couldn’t recover.Scoring for Boyd Christian School were Emma Young with 10 points, Bella Stiles had 9 and Ava Jones hit for 4 points.Bobby Ray players to score the basketball were Sadie Duggin with 8 points, and Jazzlyn Ward had two points.Boyd Christian School played in Centertown last night while Bobby Ray will see action again Monday when they play host to Centertown for game two of the 5-6 grade girls basketball season.
