The Boyd Christian Lady Broncos made their final home appearance Friday night versus Nashville Central Christian. The Lady Broncos edged the Lady Warriors in the first period by a single point.
The Lady Warriors climbed on and broke the Lady Broncos in the second. It was all NCC after halftime and the Lady Warriors rode into the sunset with a 59-38 win over the Lady Broncos.
Lady Warrior Maggie Pepper led all scorers with a game-high 17 points. She scored 10 points from the floor and the other seven from the free-throw line.
Lady Bronco Rhiannon Hoover led the Lady Broncos with 15 points. She connected three times behind the arch, once in each of the first three quarters.
It was a back-and-forth battle of will in the opening period. Hoover buried her first of three 3-point shots. Erin Cantrell helped the Bronco offense with four points.
Alexis Christen and Pepper combined for eight of the Lady Warriors’ 10 points in the first. At the end of the first, Boyd led by one, 11-10.
The Lady Warriors outscored the Lady Broncos 18-9 in the second. Kara Bailey and Brandon Allen both dialed up and connected from long distance.
Boyd struggled to maintain its pace against NCC and the Lady Warrior defense turned much of its focus to Hoover. She was limited to five points in the second.
A 3-pointer and a pair of free throws was all Hoover was able to get past the Lady Warrior defense. Morgan Deweese and Morgan Young combined for the other four points. Boyd trailed 28-20 at the half.
The Lady Warriors continued the pace that had allowed them to claim the lead. Boyd continued to attack the aggressive defense of the Lady Warriors. Hoover scored five in the third and hit two free throws in the fourth.
Emma Rhoton slipped free once in the third and again in the fourth for her only four points of the game.
Mackinzie Pistole scored inside when she got behind the defense in the fourth and Stephanie Mullins knocked down a deep 3-point in the fourth.
The Lady Warriors opened back up the offense in the fourth. Bailey Johnson and Rachel Fettig buried a pair of shots from behind the arch. The fourth quarter tempo was faster than the Lady Bronco offense could keep up with.
The Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Broncos by a final score of 59-38 in the Boyd Christian School season finale.
