Lady Broncos come up with narrow win over Centertown

In a one-point thriller, the Boyd Lady Broncos roped in the Lady Warriors and rode away with a 19-18 win over Centertown.
Alaina Stiles took the Lady Bronco offense on her back in the final quarter as she scored seven of her game-high 10 points.
The fourth quarter started with the Lady Warriors in the lead, 15-12. The explosive push made by Stiles caught the Lady Warriors by surprise. Stiles had not scored since she connected on a 3-point shot in the second quarter. Stiles fueled the offense as she dropped in six points and one more from the charity stripe for good measure.
Centertown’s defense struggled to find ways to stop Stiles in her relentless pursuit of the basket. The aggressive play in the fourth quarter took the Lady Warriors focus off scoring points. Centertown was on its heels much of the final period and the Lady Warriors posted only three points down the stretch.
Katy Mae Cantrell and Madison Hollis provided the offense in the fourth. It was not enough and the Lady Bronco attack jumped them into the lead as time ran out. Boyd fought its way to the front and rode away with a dramatic come-from-behind, one-point win at 19-18 in Centertown.
The first quarter was controlled by Centertown and its offense got going early and Cantrell scored four quick points to start the game. Jayden Smartt led the Lady Warriors in the second quarter.
Boyd started the game sluggish and Anna Jones scored the only three points for the Lady Broncos. In the second quarter, Jones and Stiles combined for seven points and pulled the Lady Broncos within two points at the halftime break.
Boyd trailed by three points at the end of the third and Boyd went on the attack. The Lady Broncos were quicker to loose balls and ultimately made plays down the stretch. Centertown put up resistance and the Lady Broncos refused to roll over.
The Lady Broncos rode away with a narrow 19-18 victory over Centertown on Monday night.
