Highlighted by the performance of 6-year-old J.P. Toney at the league championship meet last weekend, McMinnville Swim Team put the finishing touches on a successful season.Toney emerged as the high point winner in the boys 6-and-under division to claim the title of top swimmer in his age group during the nine-team championship meet held in Sewanee.Other top finishers at the league championship included Emma Peterson, 13, who captured a second-place finish and two third-place honors. Gracie Miller earned second place in the girls 9-10 division in the 25-meter backstroke.“The kids improved their swimming ability, their strokes, and their overall times,” said swim coach Paige Northcutt. “They built up their endurance the more time they spent in the water.
