Longtime youth soccer fans were treated to a new twist last weekend at Pistole Park.In a rule that went into effect at the beginning of the season, games that end in a tie will go to a shoot-out in an attempt to determine a winner. The new shoot-out rule came into play three times last weekend.“It adds a new level of excitement,” said Warren County Youth Soccer Association president John Upchurch. In the shoot-out format, each team gets to pick five players to take a penalty kick. The team which makes the most is the winner, although the game will end in a tie if the shoot-out ends in a tie.In another recent change, teams are no longer affiliated with a particular sponsor and named after that sponsor.
