Irving College sweeps West
No. 2 Anden Green was the No. 1 scorer with 21 points against West Elementary on Monday night at Bobby Ray. Irving College won the game 48-28 to remain undefeated for the season at 3-0.

Irving College came out of a 14-day COVID quarantine last week, and after defeating West Elementary on Monday night, both the boys and girls are 3-0.

Both the Irving College girls and boys were victorious over West Elementary at Bobby Ray gym. West’s home games are at Bobby Ray during construction of the West gym.

Irving College girls beat West 18-8, and their high scorer was Ali Young with 13 points.

The Irving College boys won 48-28, and the boys high scorer was Anden Green with 21 points

Jasmine Evans, coach of the Irving College girls, was satisfied with her team’s effort, who shook off Halloween indulgences to keep their unbeaten streak alive. Evans said, “We had a rough start with a good finish. I think they had a crazy weekend with lots of candy and food.”

West boys fell behind early in the first quarter, and could not catch up. Irving College dominated the game, 48-28.

There were moments in the third quarter when West cut the lead to 10-12 points. Levi Scott led West with 15 points. Scott’s teammate, Daniel Hicks, scored eight of his 10 points in the third quarter when West starting cutting down Irving College’s lead. Irving College had too many scorers for West and pulled away for good in the fourth quarter.

Tyler Morton, Irving College boys coach, was pleased with how his team responded during the team’s quarantine and against West Elementary.

Morton said, “They are a good group of boys. They practice hard and play hard. They did a lot of practice at home during those two weeks. Easton Green and his older brother (Anden) have worked together.”

Easton Green is a third-grader and contributed seven points in the game.
