Nathan’s Famous, in partnership with Dollar General, will hold the Tennessee qualifier for the annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The contest will take place at the intersection of Broadway and 5th Ave in Nashville.The top male and female finishers will qualify for a place at the 2018 Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, Brooklyn, where they will face reigning champions Joey Chestnut and Miki Sudo. This contest is the first qualifying event for the 2018 season.“Nathan’s is honored to be traveling the nation in search of new eating talent to participate in our annual Fourth of July tradition,” said Scott Harvey, executive vice president of Nathan’s Famous.Joey Chestnut of San Jose, Calif., currently holds the title of hot dog-eating world champion after defending his title with a Fourth of July world-record 72 hot dogs in 2017.
