TN Credit started the game off hot but the momentum quickly shifted and Hoover & Son fired back with a 12-run second inning to take the lead. TN Credit would not go away and fought its way back into the lead. In a heavyweight-style game, Hoover & Son delivered the knock-out blow and defeated TN Credit, 14-13.
In the top of the first, Hoover & Son picked up two quick strikeouts. Matthew Young and Ashton Forth reached base for Hoover & Son but they were left on base after the third out ended the scoring threat.
TN Credit was on fire in the bottom of the first. Conner Nunley and J.J. Jacobs started the inning off with a pair of walks. After a strikeout for the first out was called, Baler Melton, Caylon Driver, Parker Smith, Noah Murphy, and Arick Murphy all reached base and the infield looked like a merry-go-round. Nunley was the final batter to cross the plate for TN Credit. Jacobs walked just before the final out was made and TN Credit led 8-0.
In the top of the second, Hoover & Son cut into the lead slightly when Harley Hernandez and Ryota Takeoda drew a pair of walks and the duo quickly went on the run.
Ethan Basham and Justice Majors get credit for scoring Hernandez and Takeoda and the score was 8-2 in favor of TN Credit.
After its large first inning, TN Credit went right back to work and scored five more runs in the bottom of the second. Melton, Driver, Smith, Noah Murphy, and Arick Murphy all crossed the plate for the second straight inning. Nunley and Key also reached base before the final outs were made. TN Credit extended its lead to 13-2 after the second.
Hoover & Son appeared to be down for the count but the team rallied and posted a whopping 12 runs in its final trip to the plate. Young started the inning off with a walk. Forth also reached on a walk. Brayan Holguin was aboard and the bases were full. Kobe Cagle, Hernandez, and Takeoda were all on the move and the score was 13-5.
Immediately following out one, Basham and Majors sent the base runners on the move again. Gavin Mason reached first after he was hit by a pitch and the score was 13-8. Young, Forth and Holguin were the final runners to score for Hoover & Son in the top of the third. When the dust had settled Hoover & Son claimed the lead, 14-13.
TN Credit was due up for possibly the last time. The Hoover & Son defense stepped up and responded and the defense picked up two quick outs to start the inning. Noah Murphy reached on a walk and Arick Murphy was hit by a pitch for two on, with two outs. Miller drew a walk to load the bases down by one run. A high pop-fly to shortstop ended the game for TN Credit with the bases full.
Hoover & Son never rolled over and the offense clawed its way back into the lead by one. Hoover & Son escaped with a win and defeated TN Credit by a final score of 14-13.
