Hall of Fame to reactivate
Security Federal vice president Danny Martin holds a plague featuring years of local sports standouts. It is currently on display at Security Federals Main Street branch. After a five-year hiatus, the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame is about to begin anew.

After a five-year hiatus, the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame program is on the hunt for new committee members.
A plaque, with names of local sports superstars voted in by the committee, can be seen at Security Federal Savings Bank on Main Street, the program’s sponsor.
“We’re getting ready to kick it off again,” said Security Federal vice president Danny Martin, who was involved with the program before its break. “We’ve got to form a new committee and get going.”
Southern Standard editor James Clark, a prior committee member, feels it is a worthy program to keep alive.
“Warren County has a rich history of athletics and has fielded some strong players over the years,” Clark said. “It’s great to be able to honor our stars with a Hall of Fame to give them credit for all the hard work and practice they dedicate to their sport. I’m glad to see Security Federal get this started again.”
Prior to its years of inactivity, Hall of Fame inductees were selected by a committee of five to six local residents with knowledge of local sports. Committee members weighed the value of their sports contributions before voting on whether that athlete should be inducted.
The plaque can be viewed at the bank entrance from Morford Street. It’s located just inside the foyer.
