McMinnville Country Club tested the state’s best golfers Tuesday as the Keith Maxwell Invitational was held locally. Nearly 90 high school golfers took to the course, battling for individual and team championships.In a field featuring 14 boys teams and eight girls squads, the Cookeville boys team and Maryville girls team emerged on top.The Cavaliers posted a four-player team score of 320, eight strokes better than Coffee County and way ahead of Cumberland County’s 341 for third. Cookeville was led by Bryce Turnbow, who shot 76 to headline the Cavaliers.The Lady Rebels were led by top girls finisher Abigail Harrington, who shot 79 to pair with Ainsley Simms’ 81 for the best girls team score.
