The familiar sounds of squeaking shoes, basketballs bouncing and whistles blowing could be heard at Charlie Dalton Gym Monday as the Warren County High School basketball teams started practice for the upcoming season.Lady Pioneer coach Erick Baird and new Pioneer coach John Dillard had their squads on the court as teams around Tennessee were eligible to hit the court for the first time Monday for full-scale workouts. Both teams practiced with purpose after being upset by the District 6-AAA predictions made a week before. The Lady Pioneers and Pioneers were each picked to finish last in the district, giving both coaching staffs added motivation to push their teams. Coach Baird hardly agreed with the predictions when they happened and, after a day of practice, still believes his team has plenty of pieces to be successful.“The first day went great,” said Baird.
