Games postponed due to downpour

A night full of games at McMinnville Civic Center was cut short due to a downpour Tuesday night.With five leagues in action, only five games were able to finish before lightning entered the area around 7 p.m. Following an hour delay for lightning and heavy rain, commissioner Dell Watson made the decision to call off the remaining games.Before the rain moved into McMinnville, four games were able to finish that would reflect on league standings.In the 13-15 boys Babe Ruth baseball league, A.D. Majors and Daniel McGee each had two hits as Sun Drop defeated Cherokee 9-7.It was the second meeting in the last six days between the teams and Sun Drop has won both.Majors scored three times as he spearheaded the offense for Sun Drop and also earned the victory on the mound. Majors pitched three innings, striking out six and allowing two runs on three hits. Ridge Brewer pitched two innings of relief and Matt Savage closed the game in the sixth.McGee added two hits and scored two runs as Sun Drop improved to 3-1 this season.
