Nine players was more than enough for First Baptist against Rock Island Thursday night in Church League action.First Baptist moved to 3-5 with a 12-1 win over Rock Island in the Women’s B division.The game was delayed nearly 20 minutes as First Baptist scrambled to find enough players to play. After nine people were secured the game was started, despite First Baptist playing with only three outfielders and an automatic out at the end of the lineup.The disadvantage didn’t seem to bother First Baptist, as the team jumped out to a 9-1 lead after two innings. Leah Simpson had a two-run triple, while Sally Pack and Katie Simpson added RBI doubles to help build the advantage.First Baptist protected its big lead with sturdy defense.
