In girls 7-9-year-old softball action Monday night, Edward Jones/Leann Cordell and Netherton Dentistry faced off for the first time this season at Pete Holt Field. Edward Jones came out with the win in impressive fashion, 16-6, improving to 1-0 and sending Netherton Dentistry to 1-1 on the season.Lily Rains led all hitters as she went 3-for-3 with a homerun, triple and a single, just missing the cycle. McKayla Cagle, Halle Lowe, Callie Joe Roberts, Kia Ann King, Annabella Culwell, Amaya Martin and Jera Jones added two hits apiece.Netherton Dentistry was led by Lily Smith, Hana Parsley, Lauren Hinshaw, Kyaira Sharpe, Allie Melton, Ava Clare Wrather and Hadassah Bryan, all who had a hit apiece.Edward Jones started paying dividends in the top of the first, scoring four runs thanks to an inside-the-park grand slam by Rains, 4-0, heading into the bottom of the inning.
