Eastside Market locks up victory

Playing a single-elimination tournament makes every game a little more dramatic, not that Tuesday’s games in the boys 9-10 junior league tournament needed any more excitement.Eastside Market won a thrilling 10-9 contest against Jim’s Locksmith, while Anthony Palmer tossed a no-hitter in a 10-0 victory for Security Federal over Enterprise.Eastside Market battled out of a 6-0 hole to defeat Jim’s Locksmith Tuesday night at Sam Martin Field.Jim’s Locksmith scored six runs in the bottom of the first, but six runs by Eastside Market in the third inning was enough to give the team the victory.After six walks and two-run singles by Jack Keele and Andres Perez spotted Jim’s Locksmith a six-run lead in the first inning, Eastside Market started its comeback in the second inning.Carter Smith hit a two-run single, then four walks brought around two more runs as Eastside Market cut the deficit to 6-4.Clay Eckenrod doubled Jim’s Locksmith’s lead with one swing in the bottom of the second inning. With Keele and Jamison Brock on base, Eckenrod drove a single into the outfield that brought both runners around to score.Things began to unravel for Jim’s Locksmith shortly after. Jim’s Locksmith entered the third inning leading 8-4, but left the frame trailing by two.Bryson Elrod hit an RBI single to start the scoring for Eastside Market in the third.
