Eastside girls beat Dibrell
Clara Brackley gets free outside the Dibrell Lady Wildcat defense and lets it fly during the come-from-behind win over Dibrell at the Masonic Christmas Tourney held Monday.

Possession belonged to Eastside with the score locked at 27-27 and mere moments left in the game. That’s when the ball was passed to the hot hand of Kapri Talley.
She took the pass near the top of the key and squared up to the goal for a shot. Her high-arcing shot was up in the air for what seemed like minutes. It came down and kissed off the glass and through the rim and Eastside took a 30-27 lead with very little time on the clock.
Dibrell would have time for one more shot. The Lady Wildcat offense lost the handle after the inbound pass and MaKenna Mason picked up the loose ball near midcourt where she was fouled. Mason went to the line and connected on the first of two and the Lady Bulldogs took a 31-27 lead.
Her second shot was off target and Talley chased down the long rebound as time expired as Eastside claimed a 31-27 comeback win over Dibrell during Monday night’s Masonic Christmas Tournament second round.
Eastside scored the final 10 points to earn the victory.
With just slightly over 2:00 to play Dibrell held a six-point lead. It looked as though the Lady Wildcats were going to run some time off the clock. The Lady Bulldog defense stretched out to force a turnover, and they did.
Eastside chased down the loose ball and attacked before Dibrell could get back. Eastside cut the lead to four, 27-23.
Dibrell brought the ball into the front court again and looked to burn some time off the clock. They did a better job of stalling the second time. The Lady Wildcats moved the ball around until they found an open shot behind the defense. The shot was off target and Eastside rebounded.
The Lady Bulldogs were headed back in the other direction again for the second attempt to cut the lead. It was Mason on the attack and the lead was cut again to 27-25 and Dibrell called timeout.
Out of the timeout, the Lady Wildcats moved the ball down the floor. With no one under the basket, a shot was fired and the offense was late to the rebound. Eastside claimed the rebound and took off down the floor running. Another shot was fired over the Dibrell defender and it fell through and the score was knotted at 27-27 with under a minute to play.
The Lady Wildcats were stunned and Eastside resumed play with momentum on its side. It carried them through to the end along with a Talley 3-pointer that was the dagger. Eastside defeated Dibrell in a come-from-behind 31-27 win.
