Tiger guard Matthew Roller fires up a shot while being contested by two Eagles. Irving College fell 39-30 in Monday's tournament matchup.

Using a 21-0 run to open play, Morrison eliminated Irving College from the 7-8 grade postseason tournament Monday night.

The Eagles withstood a late push from the Tigers to win 39-30 and advance into Thursday’s semifinal.

Colby Medley scored 13 points and Chance Hendrixson chipped in eight as Morrison dominated from the opening tip, then cruised down the stretch as Irving College made a desperate attempt at a comeback.

Medley and Hendrixson were vital to the opening haymaker, which lasted into the second quarter. Medley had eight of his points before halftime, while Herndrixson sank back-to-back triples in the first quarter to push the lead toward double figures.

Corban Felton finally snapped his team’s cold spell with a jumper, but the hole proved to be too big despite the star scorer catching fire. Felton finished with 22 points, buoyed by hitting a league-high six 3-pointers.

Morrison was able to keep Felton and the Tigers at bay by getting contributions across the board. Tucker Wanamaker scored all of his six points in the second half, while Isaiah Robledo’s five points came during the opening 21-point surge.

Braxton Gibbs added four points, followed by Kyler Robinson with two and Condy Ayers with one.

Leo Castendada scored all five of his points for the Tigers in the fourth quarter. Trace Taylor drained a 3-pointer - sandwiched between two Felton deep triples in the third quarter- for his lone points.
