Depleted Lady Pioneer lineup loses to Coffee

Hailey Wood sprints across the plate for a run in earlier action this season. Wood and the Lady Pioneers lost a close game on the road Friday to the Coffee County Raiderettes.
The Warren County High School softball team traveled to Coffee County on Friday for a matchup against the Raiderettes. The Lady Pioneers were down six starters and ultimately lost the game, 5-2, after the Raiderettes put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth.The Lady Pioneers hit the ball well, tallying 12 hits but didn’t get the run support they needed as they had several missed opportunities but didn’t capitalize.Kyra Hillis led all hitters, going 3-for-4 with a single, double, home run and 2 RBIs, just missing the cycle. Ashton Whiles, Hailey Wood, and Lexie Chadwell chipped in two hits apiece, while Bri Young and Emily Mikkola contributed a hit in the losing effort.Maddie Cantrell suffered the loss on the mound, going five and one-third innings, allowing five runs on 10 hits.The Lady Pioneers started the top of the first inning with a double to leftfield by Wood.
