The Covenant Academy cross country team had another wild race on Monday running with over 900 other runners, ranging from elementary to high school.
After missing races due to inclement weather and race cancellations, students took off on their third race of the season through the beautiful TAACC course located at The Hermitage near Nashville.
Leading the pack for the lower elementary was Luke Mara, who came in 7th out of 91 with a time of 5:14 for the .75-mile race. Lance Weaver came in under 6 minutes and was followed closely by Lucas Stephens, Cayson Hendren, and Cy Sears, all coming in under seven minutes.
Covenant elementary girls Aria Weaver, Lilian Stephens and Camellia Weaver all came in under 8 minutes.
Leading the mile for the upper elementary girls was Addisyn Sears, Kylie Huskey, and McKenzie Sears, all coming in under 10 minutes. Upper elementary boys ran a strong race lead by D.J. Weitzel, followed by Shawn Durre and Ethan Benkarski.
The Covenant team was rounded out with a strong effort from Nick Durre, Walker Slaughter and Anneliese Ruling.
“These kids have worked hard all season and continue to impress me,” said Covenant cross country coach Heather Stovall. “They have a bright future in running.”
