Covenant Academy Lions roar into championship

Covenant Academys High School soccer team came in second place in the MTAC Tournament on Saturday. After wins over Currey Ingram, 9-5, and Riverside Christian Academy, 1-0, the Covenant Academy Lions took on Dickson’s undefeated West Academy for the soccer championship game in Brentwood on Saturday.Both teams went scoreless in the first half before Covenant Academy took a 1-0 lead with a Taylor Madewell penalty kick in the second half.West didn’t let down however, and knotted the game 1-1 after getting behind Covenant’s defense. With 10 minutes left, West found the net one more time to win the contest, 2-1.“Our kids played their hearts out,” said Covenant soccer coach Chris Madewell. “We played against a bigger and faster team and still almost came out on top.
