The two-time defending District 6-AAA champions have been beaten. The Warren County High School boys tennis team, which has dominated the past two seasons, lost Tuesday 6-3 in a district match against the Cookeville Cavaliers.Playing on the road for the sixth straight time to begin the season because the McMinnville Civic Center courts are currently being remodeled, the Pioneers lost for the first time since 2010 to a district foe.Coach David Dunlap was impressed by the Cavaliers, who have been the main challenger to the Pioneers over the past two years.“Cookeville played very good,” said Dunlap. “We will need to improve our effort and skills for the district tournament.”The Pioneers fell to 1-1 overall in district play, while Cookeville improved to 3-0.All of the Pioneer victories came in singles play.
