KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee coach Rick Barnes has added Michael Schwartz to his staff.

Schwartz previously worked for Barnes at Texas. He spent this past season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Tulsa.

In a university release Monday announcing the hire, Barnes called it a "quick and easy choice" and said Schwartz has "always been a guy I knew I wanted to bring back on my staff."

Schwartz was a member of the 1998-99 Texas team coached by Barnes. Schwartz also worked on Barnes' Texas staff as a graduate assistant from 1999-2001 and a video coordinator from 2002-04, which included a Final Four run in 2003.

He also has spent four seasons as a lead assistant at Fresno State, six seasons at Miami and one season at Texas-San Antonio.
