A person familiar with the situation says Middle Tennessee has agreed on a deal for UNC Asheville's Nick McDevitt to be the Blue Raiders basketball coach.

The person spoke on the condition of anonymity to The Associated Press on Saturday because the school hasn't announced the hire. FanRag Sports first reported Middle Tennessee's plans.

McDevitt replaces Kermit Davis, who left to coach Mississippi after going 332-188 in 16 seasons.

McDevitt has a record of 98-66 in five seasons at UNC Asheville. The Bulldogs captured Big South regular-season titles the last two years and won the conference tournament in 2016. UNC Asheville went 21-13 and reached the NIT this year.

After winning NCAA Tournament games in 2016 and 2017, Middle Tennessee went 25-8 and made it to the NIT this season.
