BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Southeastern Louisiana first baseman Jameson Fisher and McNeese State right-hander Kaleb Fontenot have been named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Baseball Players of the Week.

The players were each nominated by their school's respective baseball sports information directors and selected by a statewide media panel.

Fisher, a junior from Zachary, was named the Hitter of the Week for the third time this season. The Lions' first baseman enjoyed his best week of the 2016 season, hitting .769 (10-for-13) at the plate with a double, eight RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base over the course of five games.

Fontenot, a senior from Ville Platte, was named the Pitcher of the Week after tossing 10 shutout innings in a no-decision against Northwestern State.
