ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — University of Michigan fans turned out in droves for a first chance to buy new gear under the school's Nike apparel and equipment deal.

A block party outside M Den in Ann Arbor included hundreds of people who lined up to shop.

Football coach Jim Harbaugh was on hand for the event, as well as members of the school's basketball team and marching band.

Michigan's planned switch to Nike from Adidas was announced last year. M Den Owner Scott Hirth tells The Ann Arbor news that anticipation for Sunday's events had been building since then. He says he ordered an abundant supply of new gear in October in anticipation of a huge response from fans.

Under the deal, Nike supplies the school's athletic programs with uniforms, footwear, apparel and equipment.
