If the Warren County High School football team could just skip the second quarter, the Pioneers might strike gold. For the second straight week, a second-quarter collapse doomed Warren County on the road, this time against the Red Raiders in Coffee County. The Pioneers allowed 3 TDs during an 8-minute stretch to close the second quarter, propelling Coffee County to its first win on Friday night, 28-14.Warren County didn’t get fully warmed up until the fourth quarter. That’s when the Pioneers mounted a frantic comeback to score both of their TDs and make Coffee County nervous. The Pioneers were on the move for what could have been a third TD, but two holding penalties over the span of four plays ultimately led to a turnover on downs with 2:57 remaining. Warren County finished with 11 penalties for 105 yards in what was a flag-filled game.“I was disappointed with how we lost our composure,” said WCHS coach Tom Moore of the penalties and occasional sloppy play.
