In a battle of the banks Monday night at Hoover-Millraney Field, Coffee Bank & Trust was able to come from behind and cash in on a 16-11 win over Security Federal in 7-9 girls coach pitch softball.

Security Federal looked like the team with money in the bank in the first inning, vaulting ahead to a 4-0 lead. Maebry Yates, Nora Hice, Anniston Page and Harper Bielling got their bats in gear with hits and runs for Security Federal.

Coffee Bank & Trust was held scoreless in the bottom half of the first, which resulted in an early hole.

But there’s only so long you can hold back the Coffee Bank offense and the floodgates opened in the fourth inning when the entire team batted and eight players scored for a 14-10 lead.

Security Federal tried to claw its way back after the game-changing rally, but found insufficient funds as Coffee Bank held on for victory.

Lotte McGregor and Cali Prater were the top offensive threats for Coffee Bank with 3 runs each. Prater also made a nice play at third base for an out.

Other top scorers for Coffee Bank were Daelyn Roland, Khole Howell, and Finnley Killian with 2 runs each. Howell made a clutch play as catcher by getting an out at home to keep a Security Federal run from scoring.

Scoring 2 runs each for Security Federal were Emma Boon, Nora Hice, Anniston Page, Harper Bielling, and Lily Looper.
