CJ Taylor, pictured in a home game against Blackman, was the hero Friday in Smithville. Taylor hit a last-second shot to sink DeKalb County 66-64.

When the Pioneers desperately needed a basket, Chris Sullens knew exactly where to turn. Sophomore CJ Taylor has been a scoring machine all season, so why not call on No. 23.

Just like a famous No. 23, Taylor delivered in the clutch.

Taylor sliced through the heart of the Tiger defense for a layup with 3.6 seconds left as Warren County beat DeKalb County Friday 66-64.

It was the final basket in a 16-point night for Taylor, who has now scored in double figures 12 straight games.

Senior Sloan Seymour added 18 points, while reserve Aiden Cummings exploded for 11 points.  Before Friday, Cummings had appeared in just four games and had two career points.

The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Pioneers and improved the team to 9-4 this season.
