With summer league baseball and softball coming to an end, McMinnville Civic Center is getting ready for fall ball starting Sept. 19 and ending by Oct. 21 for a total of eight games for each team.
There will be 5-6 co-ed T-ball, 6-8 boys coach pitch, 7-9 girls coach pitch, 9-11 boys kid pitch, 10-12 girls kid pitch, and boys 12-14 kid pitch. Around 30 kids have signed up to play so far.
All games will be played on Mondays and Thursdays and there will be a $50 fee for each player registering with the registration deadline of Aug. 6. There will be a discount to $40 if a family has three kids who play.
There will also be a week of late registration that will end Aug. 13. Coaches will begin contacting players on the team starting the week of Aug. 22.
The league will focus on the developmental and instructional aspects of the game to help athletes around Warren County get better at the game of softball or baseball.
McMinnville Parks and Recreation athletic coordinator Terry Beard gave his insight of how the fall ball leagues are supposed to help the kids.
“I think the leagues in the fall help in the development of all of the kids that have enjoyed playing summer ball at the Civic Center. It gives the kids a chance to move up a level from the league they were in and I think that will really help improve their game.”
Beard added, “It’s all about the kids to help them get better.”
Beard also said there will be a need for umpires and scorekeepers for the leagues but he added most of the umpires and scorekeepers from the summer league will return.
If you want to get your kid or kids signed up for the league, registration sheets will be accepted at the Civic Center Monday thru Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday has an extended time of 4 to 7 p.m.
