Plenty of tournament seeding scenarios were in play Tuesday night at Dottie West Field for the 11-12-year-old boys senior league. The Pioneer Pediatric Cardinals and the Dream Builder A’s were in the center of the number crunch for seeding, as both teams had a chance to secure second place. The A’s needed to defeat the Gary Steele Karate Phillies, then hope the Custom Collision Yankees could upset the Cardinals.Neither happened though, as the Phillies beat the A’s 7-5 to extend their winning streak and the Cardinals crushed the Yankees 20-9.The A’s looked poised to pick up their eighth win, taking a 4-3 lead into the sixth inning with Tyler Hollingsworth cruising on the mound and the bottom of the Phillies lineup coming to the plate. The A’s may have relaxed a bit too early, as Harrison Wood led off the inning with a single. Wood would tie the game by scoring on a Eli Eldridge single. After Japeth Woodlee was hit with a pitch, Nicholas Bond came up with an RBI single to score Eldridge and give his team a 5-4 lead.A hot shot by Jesse Jones to shortstop, which was booted, led to Woodlee and Bond coming in to grow the lead to three. The A’s were able to scratch one run across in the bottom of the sixth.
