Boyd Christian High School senior and standout Bronco basketball player Trey Cantrell signed his letter of intent for a scholarship to Lindsey-Wilson College, committing to become a Blue Raider next year on their men’s basketball team.Lindsey-Wilson College is located in Columbia, Ky., and competes in the NAIA collegiate sports association along with other universities such as Cumberland and Freed-Hardman, giving Cantrell a chance for both an excellent education and to pursue a sport he has excelled in over the years.Cantrell is the son of Lane and Holly Cantrell, and has been attending Boyd for two and a half years.Cantrell was a leader on and off the court, making an impression on coaches and players alike. He often was the game’s top scorer but not hesitant to make a precision pass to a teammate in order to score two points.“We had two great things happen during Tuesday’s game,” said Boyd head coach Lucas Majors in January as Cantrell broke the 1,000 marker. “Senior Trey Cantrell achieved a career milestone for 1,000 points and we extended our winning streak to 11 in a row.”The Broncos were successful on the hardwood this year as they advanced all the way to the MTAC championship game against the Franklin Classical Knights.
