Cantrell signs with Freed Hardeman

Boyd Christian High School’s Erin Cantrell committed Wednesday to continue her education and play basketball for Freed Hardeman University in the fall.“I’m really very excited about the opportunity,” said Cantrell, who plans on pursuing her education in the field of nursing and specializing in kinesiology or the scientific study of human or non-human body movement which includes biomechanics and orthopedics, strength and conditioning, sport psychology, methods of rehabilitation, such as physical and occupational therapy, and sport and exercise.Cantrell is a member of the Boyd Christian Lady Bronco Division 5 national champion team that took the NACA tournament in a seven-game winning streak at the end of its season.“I want to say as her coach I’m proud of her,” said Boyd Christian Lady Bronco head coach Brent Warren. “I’m proud of this whole group of seniors. I want to congratulate Erin on her signing and hope she does wonderfully.”Cantrell’s parents, Peggye and Wayne Cantrell, and her sister Erica Cantrell were on hand to support her decision.“On behalf of her family, I want to thank all of you for being part of our life over the last three years,” said Wayne Cantrell.
