Broncos take two in Cookeville

The Boyd baseball team was back in action Saturday, playing two games, as the Broncos traveled to Cookeville to take on Overton County in game one and Algood in game two.The Broncos defeated the Wildcats in game one, 4-3, thanks to the heroics of Brady McCormack, Dylan Legeune and Jace Brantley, improving their record to 8-3 on the season.In game two, the Broncos defeated Algood, 4-1, thanks to a four-run third inning. Jace Brantley led the charge against Algood, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. Brantley also earned the win on the mound, going four and one-thirds innings, giving up only one run.Both teams had runners on base and opportunities to score in the first two innings, but didn’t take advantage and the game remained scoreless after two. Algood scored the first run of the game thanks to an RBI single, 1-0.
