Maybe the only thing more dominating than the pitching of Lane Jones Monday night at Hoover and Millraney Field was the offensive explosion by the Gondola Braves against the L&M Floors Yankees. The Braves broke out the bats in the tune of 13 hits and 19 runs to improve to 4-2 by beating the Yankees 19-3 in boys 9-10-year-old junior league action.Jones followed the Braves’ big win by striking out 13 batters over six shut out innings to help the Cardinals defeat the State Farm White Sox 2-0.In the first game, it didn’t take long for the Braves to show up at the plate. Dale Robinson and Gavin Myers each had RBI singles in the first inning as the Braves opened up a 5-0 lead. The Yankees responded with two runs of their own in the first, as Preston Gumz and Ian McClure scored on passed balls to make it 5-2.The Braves’ bats poured it on in the second inning. Nine batters came up before the Yankees could record their first out.
