Boyd wins

Cydney Jane Perry had 22 points as Boyd picked up its first win Tuesday, beating Bobby Ray 32-29.

Perserverence paid off in a big way for the Boyd Lady Broncos.

Led by Cydney Jane Perry's 22 points, the Lady Broncos downed Bobby Ray 32-29 for their first win this fall on the hardwood.

Due to a small number of players, Boyd has had to play its 5-6 grade group in the 7-8 grade league, where the team has struggled to score all season. Playing against bigger and better teams may have been discouraging to the Lady Broncos during the 7-8 grade season, but it seems to be beneficial now the team is matching up against kids their age.

Perry was a scoring machine against the Lady Stars, often weaving through five defenders on her way to the rim for layups. Her defense also provided a big boost, heading a Boyd press that often kept Bobby Ray from getting across halfcourt.

Raylee Vinson added eight points in the Boyd victory, while Brit Ralph and Dara Stubblefield scored one point each.

Bobby Ray got nine points from Alexia Ross. Other scorers included Brooke Kesey with eight, Kloie Wilson with six, Marlie Huff with four and Zoi Radny with two.
