Boyd sweeps Covenant

McMinnville Civic Center played host to a matchup between two Warren County high school teams, but it wasn’t the one local basketball fans have been clamoring for all year.Tuesday’s games featured Boyd and Covenant battling for the title of best local private school team and the Broncos and Lady Broncos emerged victorious.The Broncos defeated the Covenant Lions 43-17 while the Lady Broncos remained unbeaten in the MTAC standings with a 49-16 win over the Lady Lions.Boyd (11-9) scored the game’s first 19 points as it never trailed while cruising to a 26-point victory. Seven Broncos tallied baskets, led by Devin Terry’s nine points. Christian Barrett and Edgar Morales each had seven – most coming in the early run that put the game away.The Broncos had a distinct size and experience advantage against the young Lion squad coached by former WCHS boys head coach Ryan Smith.
